Aka-e.  The sky’s other colors appear in a palette of red, yellow, green, gray, aubergine, and gold.  The innovation of the Kakiemon kiln in the 1630’s, porcelains with enamel overglaze attract collectors and decorators in both the East and West.  Nothing commands the eye’s attention in a room as an Imari polychrome bowl, vase or plate.
