BLUE & WHITE

Blue and White.  Just colors from the sky–Sora–adorned the first, early seventeenth century porcelains of Japan, and continue in today’s studio ceramics utilizing original techniques and designs.  The smooth, white surface of porcelain provides an ideal canvas for motifs painted by a free, fluid hand in delicate shades of indigo.  Sometsuke, this underglaze blue porcelain inspired by Chinese styles, incorporate Japanese elements to achieve the universal appeal of a quiet sky.
